Latest company cases about Plastic Industry — Full-Scenario Adaptation Empowering Quality Upgrades of Plastic Special-Effect Products

As a widely used industrial material, the appearance quality of plastics directly determines the value of end products. In fields such as home appliance housings, consumer electronics accessories, building decoration, and toy manufacturing, plastic products with metallic luster and pearlescent effects are highly favored. However, the control of color and special-effect parameters for such products has long been an industry challenge. Traditional color measurement devices often can only measure color data at a single angle and cannot comprehensively reflect the angle-dependent color variation characteristics and particle distribution of plastic products. This leads to issues such as color deviation and uneven texture in mass production, affecting market acceptance. The Multi-Angle Portable Spectrophotometer MC12, with its full-scenario coverage capability and precise measurement performance, has become an ideal choice for quality control in the plastic industry.

The full-scenario coverage characteristics of the MC12 are reflected in its ability to adapt to the full range of special-effect surface detection needs in the plastic industry. Whether it is pearlescent plastics for home appliance housings, metallic-texture injection-molded parts for mobile phone cases, or marble-like plastic panels for building materials, the MC12 can comprehensively capture color and special-effect details through 12-angle measurements. The instrument’s measurement wavelength range is 400nm–700nm, using a concave grating spectroscopic method, with a 10nm wavelength interval and 10nm half bandwidth, ensuring precise acquisition of color data. Its 256-pixel dual-array CMOS image sensor can quickly capture subtle color changes, with a measurement time of only about 5 seconds, greatly improving inspection efficiency and meeting the needs of rapid sampling inspections on plastic production lines.

For the core quality indicators of plastic special-effect products, the MC12 provides precise quantitative solutions. In terms of color repeatability, the chromaticity value is only 0.02△Eab (standard deviation of 30 measurements of a white plate at 5-second intervals after instrument warm-up and calibration), and color reproducibility averages <0.10△E on gray BCRA color tiles and <0.25△E* on color BCRA tiles, ensuring high color consistency across different production batches. In special-effect parameter measurement, the MC12 achieves particle size reproducibility of 1.4% and sparkle reproducibility of 1.9%, accurately distinguishing subtle differences in plastic particle distribution and avoiding appearance defects caused by uneven granularity.

The portability and ease of use of the MC12 make it widely applicable in plastic production scenarios. A battery life of 5,000 measurements supports long-duration on-site testing, while USB and Bluetooth interfaces facilitate data transmission and allow direct connection to computers for data analysis or printing inspection reports. The instrument supports multiple color spaces such as CIE LAB, XYZ, and RGB, as well as multiple color difference formulas such as △Eab and △E00, enabling flexible switching according to the testing requirements of different plastic products. The built-in storage capacity of 10,000 data records can log color data, special-effect parameters, and pass/fail status for each test, facilitating quality traceability and production process optimization for enterprises.

In the plastic raw material inspection stage, the MC12 can quickly detect the color consistency of plastic pellets and masterbatches, controlling raw material quality at the source. During production, it can monitor color changes of products in injection molding, extrusion, spraying, and other processes in real time, enabling timely adjustment of process parameters and reducing the generation of defective products. In the finished product inspection stage, it can comprehensively test color and special-effect parameters to ensure that shipped products meet customer requirements. In addition, the MC12 complies with multiple international standards such as ISO 7724 and DIN 5033, and its test results are authoritative and universally applicable, helping enterprises smoothly enter domestic and international markets.

Whether for large-scale production by major home appliance companies or customized orders from small plastic product manufacturers, the MC12, with its precision, stability, and convenience, provides strong support for quality upgrades of plastic special-effect products, helping enterprises enhance core competitiveness and stand out in intense market competition.
